Etruscan Arezzo Itinerary

Arezzo was founded by the Villanovan peoples, after which it was subject to Etruscan influence. The city had numerous and important sanctuaries which housed famous bronze statues like the Chimera.

The Etruscan itinerary starts in the “Gaio Cilnio Mecenate” National Archaeological Museum located inside the old St. Bernard Olivetan monk monastery and displays some important archaeological relics. The itinerary ends a few kilometres away from the historical centre at S. Cornelio-Castelsecco. A theatre-temple, which would have been at its peak use in second century BC but whose origins actually date back even further, can still be seen on the hill.
