Valdarno Itinerary

Throughout the valley one can admire bell towers, towers, churches, castles and ancient villages like Loro Ciuffenna, Gropina and Cennina. Valdarno was the site of a bloody struggle between Florence and Arezzo.

San Giovanni Valdarno is adorned with medieval and Renaissance buildings. The family residence of the great artist Masaccio stands at number 83 in Corso Italia.  Valdarno boasts prestigious wine and olive production, however, it is to be considered as one of the oldest industrialization areas in the province of Arezzo. The Arno Valley offers wonderful landscapes immersed in nature. One example is Cavriglia Park, surrounded by chestnut and beech forests, where mouflons, fallow deer and roe deer roam free. Following the indications for Castelfranco di Sopra, one finds oneself immersed in the spectacular landscape of the Balze (cliffs), made up of badlands and canyons. This naturalist itinerary ends at the Ponte Buriano and Penna Nature Reserve.
