OROAREZZO keeps growing
OROAREZZO 2024 closes in growth: +5% over last year's visitation and foreign visitation from 109 countries
The 43rd edition of OROAREZZO concluded with a 14% increase in foreign visitors and a 5% overall increase compared to last year’s edition. Among the countries with consistent growth, Italy maintains a 4% increase.
The beginning of the recovery in 2023 brought an overall 40% increase, rewarding the event project that Italian Exhibition Group shares with trade associations, companies, and local stakeholders. The further growth of this edition shows how the quality and variety of OROAREZZO's exhibition offerings met well with the profile of the hosted foreign buyers. Manufacturing, jewelry, components, semi-finished products, and technologies found their reference markets in Arezzo and were able to open new ones, thanks to the incoming program of IEG in collaboration with ICE Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and IEG’s international regional advisors.
Additionally, the city of Arezzo also became a protagonist of the event, with off-fair events in an experiential tour of the City of Gold, organized together with Confguide Confcommercio Arezzo.
MARKETS, CONFIRMATIONS, EXPLOITS, AND NEW ENTRIES
Visitors of OROAREZZO come from 109 countries, led by Europe at 40%, followed by the Middle East at 16%, Turkey at 8%, the Americas at 13%, Asia at 14%, and Africa at 8%. The most represented countries include Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, the United States, Lebanon, Algeria, Romania, Poland, and Hong Kong. The LATAM area is highlighted with Mexico and Brazil, along with new entries from Bahrain, Laos, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Montenegro, and the Dominican Republic. In Oceania, Australia saw a significant increase, doubling its presence compared to last year. The buyers hosted for this 43rd edition, about 400, came from 60 countries.
OROAREZZO, CONTINUOUS EVOLUTION: “PRECIOUS FASHION” AND CAREER DAY
This year, OROAREZZO saw the consolidation of two new initiatives. The “Precious Fashion” event gave voice to prominent figures in the goldsmith and fashion accessory industries to share strategies, technologies, and common values, ultimately charting a recovery path for accessories. Promoted by Confindustria Federorafi along with the magazine “Leather & Luxury,” which conducted a survey on the sector’s businesses, the event was praised by the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, as a reference event for high-end accessories. At OROAREZZO, IEG also continued its commitment to the educational and professional sectors, connecting tomorrow’s young goldsmiths with exhibiting companies that have open positions through the Career Day “Open To Young Generation” initiative.
PREMIÈRE, 33 YEARS OF PURE CREATIVITY: IT’S TIME FOR THE “TALENTS”
Première is the contest that has inspired the creativity of goldsmith companies for 33 years, with a theme chosen by art director Beppe Angiolini. This year’s theme was “Love and Beauty.” 53 companies participated in the categories of Design, Fashion, Tradition, and Wearable Sculptures. This was the second year of involvement for the Talents category, reserved for young students from Italian goldsmith schools and designers under 30. The joint winners were the technical professional goldsmith institute of Arezzo with the sketch by Chiara Angeli and the Giovagnoli Artistic High School of San Sepolcro with the sketch by Asia Barberi. The winners will see their creations realized thanks to the free collaboration of partner companies in the territory during the fourth Italian Jewelry Summit to be held in Arezzo in December 2024.
SHARED PATH WITH STAKEHOLDERS
A change that IEG shared and implemented together with local stakeholders: from the Chamber of Commerce of Arezzo-Siena, to Arezzo Fiere e Congressi, the Municipality of Arezzo, the Province of Arezzo, and the Tuscany Region. And also: the Aretina Goldsmith Council, Confindustria Federorafi, Confartigianato, CNA, Assocoral, AFEMO, A.I.F.M., and Confcommercio Federpreziosi. IEG invites the community to the IV Italian Jewelry Summit to be held in Arezzo in December 2024. The IEG Jewelry Agenda continues with SIJE from July 11 to 14 in Singapore and from September 6 to 10 with Vicenzaoro September.
