The fair / history
![]() In Arezzo, the first jewellery trade fair was arranged on September 1980. Arezzo Jewellery and Silverware International Trade Fair was the name chosen to designate the fair. On that first edition area took up 1.500 square metres and hosted the stando of 86 exhibitors. It is important to stress that, in the 80s, there were quite a few jewellery trade fairs all over the world. In those years, gold achieved its all-time high; its quotation reached 800,00 US Dollaro per ounce. The success attained by this event, persuaded its promoters to schedule it regularly in the following years. During this first period, the exhibition was hosted by Arezzo Trade and Meeting Centre in its premises in Via Fleming. All to soon, this space proved to be inadequate to satisfy the increasing applications. In 1989 the new premises of Arezzo Trade Meeting Centre was opened in Via Spallanzani, and for the yearly jewellery trade fair was created the new logo OROAREZZO. That year, the exhibitors increased up to 300 units while the available area took up nearly 7.000 square metres.
In the 90s, the lasting success of the event, which kept on attracting an increasing number of exhibitors and visitors, made necessary the construction of a new pavilion, whose overall covered surface took up 2.000 square metres. Only few years later, this new building needed to be, once again, enlarged and from 2001 the organizing committee has had ai its disposal functional enlargements.
![]() Thanks to the various cultural initiatives promoted, OROAREZZO has managed to urge firms to get into touch with outside world and to rediscover features of their work that have been blamefully disregarded for a long time. The result is a new and significant attentino to design, updated products, processing innovations, communication and image. OROAREZZO will keep on pursuing its aims and strengthening its role which seems to be bound to become more and more significant even at an international level.
